If you wish to operate trucks in the Netherlands professionally, you must follow an instruction course that is code 95 (initial qualification, kwalifikacja Wstepna). The training culminates with a government-approved exam.

Training

Once you have passed the tests, you will be issued the remark Code 95 on your driving licence. The code permits you to drive trucks in the categories C, C1 and CE. The Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen (CBR) will check whether you have met the requirements for Code 95. This is done through an examination of your driving record. After the remark of Code 95 has been added to your driving licence, you will be able to drive trucks professionally. You can apply for registration with the RDW to keep access to the European Truck Driving Area.
If you are a professional UK driver and you are a professional driver, you will need to attend a regular training course to renew your Code 95 indicator. It can be done in England, Scotland, or Wales. After you have completed your periodical training and have completed your training, the CBR will send a Certificate of Periodic Training (Verklaring van Nascholing, VVN in Dutch) to the RDW. The municipality then has to renew the code 95 designation on your Dutch driving license.
Exams
As per Directive 2003/59/EC, all bus drivers (categories D1, D1E and) as well as tractor trailers, trucks, or commercial vehicles (categories: C1, C1E and C) who provide daily transport services must complete the Code 95 training. After the training course of 35 lectures is finalised and a certificate or licence of Code 95 is issued which is valid for 5 years. It permits drivers to operate the transportation of goods and passengers on a commercial basis all over the European Union.
The instruction of Code 95 consists of 2 parts: theory and practical training. During the theory lessons you'll learn to use a tachograph, the rights and responsibilities of a driver and first aid. You'll also learn the process for clearing customs. In addition, you will also receive intensive practical training at the driving school. This includes on-site manoeuvres, coupling and uncoupling with a tractor kartaxpresspoland and city driving. You will take an examination at the end of your long-distance course. The exam is administered by the state commission that deals with the transport sector.
After completing the training, you can request to get the code 95 inscription on your driving license at your local authority (in Dutch: RDW). You are required to complete periodic training (nascholing, in Dutch) every five years. After you have completed your Code 95 training, the CBR will notify your municipality that you are able to renew your Code 95 indication on your driving licence.
You must have the C (truck driver) qualification to be eligible for a code 95. You must pass both theoretic and practical tests to be eligible. In addition, you must have at minimum 35 hours of refresher training every five years. You can complete this training at the comfort of your home or at a trucking school.
